With the rising water and current flow this week after the rains, the fishing has been tremendous on Pickwick Lake and the TN river below the dam on Kentucky Lake.
Bass Fishing - Whether you want to fish shallow in the bushes or fish deep, bass are all over the lake. THe rising water has allowed a good flipping bite where baits like the Black Label Bug or Piglet. Also a topwater frog or prop bait has gotten some huge bites due to the brim beds as well. Offshore with the current has started to produce with deepcrankbaits and Jigs being the dominant bait. Scoping is still a great option on stumps, but the current has made Old School fishing a great option.
White Bass/Stripers - With gates open a person can catch easily 100 fish a day below the dam early and late being best. Swimbaits and topwater when schooling is best. On the lake, white bass have loaded up on ledges and can be caught in great numbers on smaller swimbaits, spoons and crankbaits.
Catfish - Spawning on bluffs and with current along the river channel. Should be the best week of the year to fill the cooler on white cats.
Crappie - still fantastic with fish floating in main creeks as well as moving to the first cover from spawning beds. THe black label 2 inch high roller and small 2 inch swimbaits depending on conditions have been the best. Lots of limits still coming in.
Brim - Beds were later this year and most have ran small so far, but the next full moon should see the larger ones coming in. Red worms and crickets along with 1/32 small jigs can fill the cooler.
Now would be a great time to plan a trip to Pickwick lake in Counce, Tennessee and we would love you to stay with us at Pickwick Lake Lodge.
